01 / OBSERVE
Liner debris or visible damage
Pieces of lining or a reported crack justify a discussion about further examination and the affected area.
⌃ Chimney liner repair & replacement
Assess the existing flue liner and compare repair, relining and replacement for the connected appliance. The flue liner is the pathway within the chimney that contains combustion byproducts. Its material, size and installation need to suit the appliance and fuel it serves.

KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Useful observations to bring to the conversation. These signs guide questions; they do not replace a property assessment.

01 / OBSERVE
Pieces of lining or a reported crack justify a discussion about further examination and the affected area.

02 / OBSERVE
Share the new appliance and fuel details so the venting arrangement can be reviewed.

03 / OBSERVE
Describe smoke, odors or deposits and earlier findings; these symptoms do not identify a liner defect by themselves.
DEFINE THE WORK
A useful proposal explains the work and its boundaries. Confirm the actual offering, materials and availability with the team.
Establish the accessible condition, dimensions and connected equipment.
Name the proposed liner and its suitability for the intended appliance and fuel.
Include the bottom connection, top detail and associated components in the scope.
Request installation records, product documents and the applicable written terms.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Share your ZIP, appliance details and safely taken photos.
Confirm the requested work, access and assessment arrangements.
Compare the proposed materials, scope and exclusions.
Review written terms and timing before work proceeds.
YOUR PLANNING GUIDE
Keep the property history, observations and written proposal together. Use these questions to understand the next step.
The flue liner is the pathway within the chimney that contains combustion byproducts. Its material, size and installation need to suit the appliance and fuel it serves. A change to the heating equipment is a reason to review that arrangement, even if the exterior brickwork appears unchanged. Provide appliance details and earlier installation records when available.
Clay tile, metal and other lining systems do not share a single repair method. The location and extent of cracks, deterioration or connection defects influence the options. Inspection findings should explain whether a localized restoration is suitable or a new lining system is being proposed. Surface appearance alone is not enough to establish the condition along the full flue.
A relining proposal should identify the exact system, sizing basis, insulation where applicable, connections, termination and treatment of the existing liner. Stainless steel and aluminum are not interchangeable choices for every appliance. Product instructions and the actual application govern suitability; a material name on its own is not a complete specification.
Ask for the proposed product information and the installation scope in writing. Discuss access, debris handling, any required follow-up and how the finished work will be documented. If a warranty is offered, request the issuer, registration requirements, exclusions and maintenance terms. A lifetime product claim should not be assumed to cover every aspect of labor or the surrounding chimney.
Clay or ceramic lining, a furnace flue and a metal replacement need to be evaluated for the actual appliance and fuel. If a proposal names HeatShield or another proprietary restoration system, request the precise product, suitability findings and installer qualifications required by that manufacturer. A named restoration method is not interchangeable with a new metal liner, and its availability should be confirmed for your property rather than assumed from a legacy brochure.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Need to discuss your own chimney?
Start a conversation →Relining addresses the internal venting pathway. Rebuilding addresses masonry construction. A project may require one or both, depending on the findings.
The extent, accessibility and type of damage determine the options. Ask why the proposed repair or replacement suits the actual lining system.
No universal term applies. The exact product, installation conditions and written documents determine any coverage offered.
Provide the appliance make or type, fuel, previous reports and any known liner history. Measurements and condition assessment are needed for a defined scope.
No. The team reviews the request and confirms availability. An online inspection slot is pending until confirmed.
Share the ZIP, appliance type, known chimney history and when the issue appears. Only take photos from a safe location.
AREAS WE SERVE
Our sole customer-facing office is in Garfield. Choose your county or send the property ZIP.
Share the property location and what you have noticed. Scope and timing are confirmed by the team.
Free estimate →Ask which findings support the recommended work, which areas were inaccessible and what remains uncertain. Written scope should identify materials, site protection, cleanup and how changes are approved. Product terms and workmanship terms should be read separately; neither is assumed from a brand name.
The property assessment and written proposal define the work, materials, access and timing for your chimney system.
